I almost didn't go to parkrun this morning because there was a slight chance of rain, plus the humidity was very high, plus I had a slight headache. However, I got myself into gear and went along, planning to walk the whole thing, but I ended up doing 1 minute walk/30 second run intervals and not being much slower than when I run more. Sweat was dripping off me by the end, but my headache disappeared at some point.
My sister, less than two weeks after her operation, is now up to walking 5 km/3 miles in slightly more than an hour (about half her usual pace). So much for the doctor who told her she should aim to be walking for about half an hour within 2 to 6 weeks. She is finding it hard to keep to such a slow pace.
I'm reading the book "Careless People" by Sarah Wynn Williams, and now I feel dirty if I look at Facebook. In case you haven't heard of it, the author worked at Facebook for about seven years and it's basically an expose of all the horrible behind the scenes practices, and how little any of the senior people including Zuckerberg care about the damage it does in the world. I would close my FB account except that some of my family members still post there, but it's changed so much in the last few years that I already spend a lot less time there than I used to.

Well... if you're interested in reading a book about how living in an over-privileged Connecticut town is terrible and nobody should ever do it (especially if that's going to intersect badly with their terrible childhood) then this is a book you'll like. I preferred Dreadful - the realism : magic ratio in this book leaned a little too realistic, also, I just do not believe that the only school choices are a. fancy schools for wealthy overachievers that have massively high standards and high stakes testing b. xenophobic schools with very low standards and c. homeschooling. Even if there are no public school options there still have to be artsy fartsy schools for wealthy people who know that their kids cannot do the pressure cooker thing starting in kindy. | |

I started playing Persona 5: The Phantom X and am enjoying it but I have a confession to make...I've never played any of the original games. I have watched some of a let's play for P5, watched the anime for that and for P4 but I think that's it (besides reading AkeShu fic). I never planned to actually play the games for reasons I don't remember (though P5 made me consider it). Now I've changed my mind and am diving in with the first game. I got it through Vimms which gathers old school games. So far? It's good to know that the music was good from the beginning! Navigating the school's hallways makes me dizzy, does it go that fast on the original console?? I hope I didn't miss anything because I kept getting lost lol The designs are very interesting, they all look American or English. In JP Masao's mom calls calls him Maa-kun so the EN version called him 'Mark' as a nickname. Looks like Hidehiko's nickname is the same in the JP. Masao is sweet with Maki, seems he can be reliable. :) I don't normally play with English voices but beggars can't be choosers and the voices aren't bad here. Yamaoka and Nanjou's relationship is funny and sweet too. Oh no you have to pick your stats in this game? I'll just follow this. In a hospital full of doctors Yamaoka still wasn't helped by anyone. 😵 Also that promise he made Nanjou make...may as well ask him to become the emperor;; Agh poor Nanjou, I hope this group all become close so he doesn't feel so alone. I don't like that it's not clear what you're supposed to be doing at any given time. No quest log or tracking. If you stop playing for a while it can take a bit to remember what you're doing. Sometimes characters remind you but...Instead of safe rooms there are 'Agastya trees' where you can save. Maki showed up at the school with no memory, she probably didn't even realize her mom was injured in the infirmary. Masao get captured by the demons and apparently they just put him in jail instead of killing him?? They even put the key in the key box lol Oh ok apparently demons can take over humans?? I'm curious how the earthquake, Maki's waking and the DEVA system are connected, plus Maki's missing friend? And of course Personas. Apparently anyone can have them, not just heroes. Noo, using Persona skills isn't part of auto?! I love how irritable the characters get when you don't go to the next quest point fast enough. Sorry but exploration is life!! In the Abandoned Werehouse, how do they know Ayase doesn't have a Persona too, since it's happened to the last few people who joined before?? Now she's in danger on her own. Also with the school going under, I hope Maki's mom is okay. | |

Some days I feel anxious and antsy, as if I'm supposed to be doing something but I'm not sure what. Mostly I keep myself occupied, constructively or otherwise, and the feeling goes away. Yesterday I was feeling like that and then I started thinking that really, there's absolutely nothing I *should* be doing. I'm lucky enough (and I guess old enough) to not have to have a job, and there's nobody apart from myself that I'm responsible for. I can sit around all day and do nothing if I want to. (But I never do want to.)
Today I finally finished a puzzle that I started working on about three months ago. It took me ages to really get into it after I'd found most of the edge pieces, but once I got serious about it I was more driven to work on it regularly. Now I'm looking forward to starting my next one. | |

I had totally forgotten I was reading the novels and I have entries talking about the first season which I'll look through before continuing with season 2.

Another 9! Prompt: Lowest rated on list. This sent me into SUCH a rabbit hole. The anime is Flaglia from about 2 years ago and it was licensed by Amazon Video but there was some delay and then just...nothing, it's not anywhere. I did find it on Youtube but it's half Japanese half-Korean and the subs are auto-generated. I can understand the Japanese parts okay but not the Korean. Maybe I'll be okay between them all??

A 1, PTW list tile. I'm going to use my skill because I have too much I want to continue right now to start something new. I rolled Odd with 1 so I went back a tile. Prompt: animal on the cover. Picked the first one I saw with Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE!. Not the prettiest animal around but it'll do.

A 10, right past the trap tile (I was sweating). Prompt: Reincarnated into another world. Welp the only other one besides HameFura on my CW list is TenSura, wasn't planning on watching more so soon but why not. That seems to be my attitude today.

For the most part his sleep has been dreamless or at least has nothing he can remember on waking. Twice though he has woken to dreams to vivid to ignore. The first time he hadn't woken Qi Shaoshang, whose bed is on the opposite side of the room they are sharing. Only fragments of the nightmare remained once he had startled awake, just the vague and fading impression of something with too much blood and death. ( He's seen a lot of both of those. Been the cause of it too. He doubts anyone in the Jianghu has gone through life without experiencing such dreams on occasion either. ) | |

Something a bit different, well it's still H/C and for a Cdrama, but it's not MLC (yes I am still working on that last part of Before the Dawn) This is for Heroes (2022) and is Di Feijing canon divergent thing. I'll post it here are 3 shortish parts over the next couple of days. Then once it's done I’ll put it on ao3. With my second load of ordered danmei arriving, 1 I came to the bizarre realization that after so many years I’m…buying books with the intention of…reading them? What a paradigm shift! This isn’t quite 100% accurate, but through my life I was first in the stage of borrowing books from the library and then buying them to keep if I really liked them, then a lot of ebooks, never mind my massive fic reading numbers, and all throughout I’ve also had a strong general practice of buying select books to have for whatever reason, often with not much intention of reading them, at least not anytime soon. 2I do have rules! I’m only “allowed” to collect things that fall within certain parameters, though some of the new ones (danmei, light novels that are horror/certain others) are a bit loose and will need to be tightened up eventually. I don’t have enough space for an infinity of books. I also generally buy ebooks if I can get them DRM-free, and after that, depending on the title, I may go for an audiobook instead if it exists.) 1 These aren’t “large” publishers like 7seas that I can get via my local bookstore but rather Rosmei & Via Lactea etc. and are physical-only (somewhat limited run?) publications. 2 i.e. I somehow randomly decided to start collecting C. J. Cherryh’s sci-fi books in hardcover, and now I’m too far in. | |

A Drop of Corruption was as good as y'all said. Loved it at least as much as the first book. Love these characters, this world, those mysteries. I hope we get ten more of them!! At least!!!!!!!!!! And the afterword/author's note at the end was kickass, too.

So far it's pleasantly cool(ish) today, but very humid. I went for a walk around 6:30 am when the humidity was in the low 90% range. Yesterday I got myself motivated to go for a run. It was similarly humid but I did it anyway. We've had loud thunderstorms with some heavy rain the last couple of evenings, but the humidity never goes down. | |

Episode 1: Feels a little trippy watching this in 2025, having seen all of the first anime years and years ago. I still have 50 chapters to go of the manga. When you look at it the manga really was short. Gosh, Brotherhood came out only 5 years after the first anime ended!
What's also funny is that I'm already really familiar with the opening and ending songs!
Episode 1 is an original episode but it does a great job of showing the problems in the government. The Freezing Alchemist leaving the military after Bradley sent them to massacre Ishvalans and joining the anti-establishment movement, then trying to recruit Kimblee who didn't care about that and just wanted to kill people. Plus the glimpses of something more in flashes throughout the episode.
If I were Hughes I sure wouldn't be able to sleep at the idea of Ed and Al being sent to massacre innocents either. They may be broken but not in that way yet.
We also see that Ed has a long way to go in both experience and knowledge. Although Roy and Armstrong both messed up too;;
Episode 2-3: Honestly kinda don't wanna watch the Liore part, I remember it very well.
I'm guessing Bradley recognized that Ed had been beyond the door when he saw him use a transmutation circle without drawing it.
I wonder what causes a rebound exactly? Trying to put too much into it? Overusing it? Not putting enough??
I am glad Brotherhood is different in where it takes Rose considering what happened to her in the first adaptation...
Can't believe Ed let the fraud go instead of turning him in, but I think it shows even more how much he only cared about the potential philosopher's stone.
